Raoul Wallenberg Awarded Honorary Australian Citizenship

On 6th May 2013, a ceremony took place at Government House conferring Honorary Australian Citizenship on Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thosuands of Hungarian Jews from deportation to the Nazi death camps. Speeches were delivered by Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, Governor-General of Australia, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Tony Abbott MP, Leader of the Opposition and Peter Wertheim AM, Executive Director of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry
