‘The UN Report on Combatting Antisemitism to Eliminate Discrimination and Intolerance Based on Religion or Belief’, to which the ECAJ contributed, was released on 23 September 2019. It includes, at paragraphs 33 and 38, detailed citations from the ECAJ’s Annual Report on Antisemitism in Australia: https://www.ohchr.org/Documents/Issues/Religion/A_74_47921ADV.pdf.

This is one of the rare times that the UN has addressed the issue of antisemitism, including left-wing antisemitism, seriously and in detail.  It condemns as antisemitism certain forms of anti-Israel discourse and pro-BDS discourse and provides support for the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.  The report “stresses that antisemitism, if left unchecked by governments, poses risks not only to Jews, but also to members of other minority communities. Antisemitism is toxic to democracy and mutual respect of citizens and threatens all societies in which it goes unchallenged.”
