Irving Rightly Convicted

Irving Rightly Convicted

Grahame Leonard, President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), the elected representative organisation of the Australian Jewish community, has said:
“Some years ago, right-wing British historian David Irving sued American Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt for libel in a British court, but lost. Presiding Judge Charles Gray then wrote that Irving was “an active Holocaust denier … anti-Semitic and racist.” On Monday, Irving was rightly convicted in Austria of denying the Holocaust and sentenced to three years prison”.
Leonard continued, “Deniers, including notorious Australian identities such as Frederick Toben, contend this is a free speech issue. This is mendacious. Holocaust denial is a crime against truth and morality. Irving has sown the seeds of hate for many years and must now accept the consequences of his actions”.
