Rabbi Dr Benjamin Elton of the Great Synagogue, Sydney, discusses the importance of Nostra Aetate, 60 years on.

The Jewish people aren’t cursed by God or collectively responsible for killing Jesus.

Those were two of the key messages of Nostra Aetate, a landmark declaration by the Vatican 60 years ago today, which overturned centuries of systemic antisemitism at the heart of Catholicism and redefined Jewish-Catholic relations.
