Raoul Wallenberg Awarded Honorary Australian Citizenship

On 6th May 2013, a ceremony took place at Gov­ern­ment House con­fer­ring Honorary Aus­trali­an Cit­izen­ship on Raoul Wal­len­berg, the Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thosuands of Hungarian Jews from deport­a­tion to the Nazi death camps. Speeches were delivered by Her Excel­lency Ms Quentin Bryce, Governor-General of Australia, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Tony Abbott MP, Leader of the Oppos­i­tion and Peter Wertheim AM, Executive Director of the Executive Council of Aus­trali­an Jewry
