28th March 2013 Dr Danny Lamm and Peter Wertheim, the President and the Executive Director of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, sharply criticized the call by the Australian Jewish Democratic Society for a boycott of products from the West Bank, describing it as “a misguided and empty gesture that will be completely rejected by the vast majority of people in the Jewish community, and by fair-minded people everywhere.” According to Lamm and Wertheim, “the AJDS has succumbed to the myth that settlements are the major impediment to Middle East peace.

18th March 2013 Executive Director of the ECAJ, Peter Wertheim, and Immediate Past President, Robert Goot, met with the Chair of the Royal Commission, Justice Peter McClellan, on March 7, and received a full briefing about the way the Commission will operate, the resources available to it and time estimates for completing various phases of the Inquiry.

12th March 2013 Dr Danny Lamm and Peter Wertheim, the President and the Executive Director of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, responded to news reports that an anti-Jewish Imam from Saudi Arabia, Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, is due to speak at an Islamic Conference in Melbourne.

20th February 2013 The Executive Council of Australian Jewry, the national peak body of the Australian Jewish community, its State constituent bodies and the B’nai B’rith Anti Defamation Commission, endorse the recent statement made by a coalition of organisations and individuals from across Victoria in support of Victoria’s multicultural and multifaith community and, applying that statement to Australia, affirm the following: Australia is a multicultural and multifaith society in which racial, religious and linguistic diversity is embraced as a strength.

19th February 2013 The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) has welcomed announcements by the Australian and Israeli governments of further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Ben Zygier, a dual Israeli and Australian citizen who had immigrated to Israel in the early 2000’s and reportedly died while in custody in Israel in December 2010.
