20th February 2013 The Executive Council of Australian Jewry, the national peak body of the Australian Jewish community, its State constituent bodies and the B’nai B’rith Anti Defamation Commission, endorse the recent statement made by a coalition of organisations and individuals from across Victoria in support of Victoria’s multicultural and multifaith community and, applying that statement to Australia, affirm the following: Australia is a multicultural and multifaith society in which racial, religious and linguistic diversity is embraced as a strength.

19th February 2013 The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) has welcomed announcements by the Australian and Israeli governments of further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Ben Zygier, a dual Israeli and Australian citizen who had immigrated to Israel in the early 2000’s and reportedly died while in custody in Israel in December 2010.

1st February 2013 ECAJ President, Dr Danny Lamm, and Executive Director, Peter Wertheim, said today that they were “appalled and dismayed” by comments made earlier this week by American Rabbi Manis Friedman.

21st January 2013 For those unfamiliar with diplomatic-speak, AUKMIN (Australia-UK Ministerial Consultations) is the annual day-long summit between the Foreign and Defence Ministers of Australia and the UK. This year’s summit was held in Perth on Friday, January 18.
