The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) is seeking to appoint a Project Manager to coordinate ECAJ’s national engagement with the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion. This is a fixed-term, full-time role based in Sydney, Australia.
The role will support the ECAJ’s contributions across legal, policy, advocacy, community, and government interfaces, working closely with Jewish community organisations across Australia to ensure a coordinated approach. The role requires sound judgement, strong organisational skills, and the ability to deliver under pressure in a high-profile environment.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate ECAJ’s engagement with the Royal Commission.
- Act as the central point of coordination for Jewish community organisations nationally in relation to the Royal Commission.
- Support collaboration across legal, policy, research, communications, and community stakeholders.
- Assist in coordinating submissions, briefings, evidence, and responses in consultation with subject-matter experts and advisers.
- Ensure clear communication, information-sharing, and alignment across stakeholders.
- Prepare briefings and updates for ECAJ leadership as required.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in high-pressure environments.
- Strong understanding of government processes, public inquiries, or commissions (including Royal Commissions or parliamentary inquiries).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience coordinating formal submissions and briefings.
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior leaders, legal advisers, and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Desirable:
- Background in law, public policy, government, or regulatory environments.
- Experience working with community organisations, advocacy bodies, or peak representative organisations.
- Familiarity with issues relating to antisemitism, counterterrorism, community safety, or social cohesion.
