‘Social cohesion teetering’

ECAJ co-CEO Alex Ryvchin’s reaction to the car-ramming of Helen Haines MP

“Horrified by the attempt to assassinate an Australian politician by vehicular ramming, a method of terror seen in Europe and the US.

“The carefree Australia we grew up in, of overwhelming safety and civility is fading. What we call social cohesion is teetering.

“Strong leadership, law enforcement, effective institutions and a personal commitment to stand up to hatred and incitement and to practise empathy and kindness is the only way through this.

“Wishing a full recovery to Ms Haines in body and soul and strength to her loved ones.”
