ECAJ submission on National Student Ombudsman

ECAJ submission on National Student Ombudsman

ECAJ submission to the Senate Education and Employment Legislation Committee inquiry into the Universities Accord (National Student Ombudsman) Bill 2024.

The ECAJ supports the introduction of national student ombudsman as part of an essential package of reforms that will help address the deficit of accountability in the tertiary education sector.

Our submission sets nature of the problem facing Jewish students, professional staff and academics at Australian universities, and some recommendations for ensuring that the Bill can achieve its goal of creating an effective and trauma-informed pathway for the independent and impartial handling of escalated complaints about conduct at universities.
